Taste of Sullivan Sweet Taste of Success

Loch Sheldrake - A fabulous evening was had by all who were in attendance for the Second Annual Monticello Rotary Taste of Sullivan to Benefit the Sullivan County Federation for the Homeless on April 22, 2025.  The event brings together a myriad of local food and beverage proprietors from throughout the county to raise money for those in need. 

 

Thank you to the local restaurants and food/beverage establishments who donated samplings of foods to be served to the over 150 community members who also supported the cause through 38 additional raffle items. 

 

The ToS Committee Chair Helen Diehl said, "We are delighted by the outpouring of support for this worthwhile cause by the entire community. We are grateful to all of the businesses in Sullivan County who supported this event." 

 

Diehl would also like to give a special shout out to SUNY Sullivan for partnering with Monticello Rotary to make this event happen. "The use of the Paul Gerry Fieldhouse and having the SUNY Culinary Department involved make this a true community event," said Diehl. 

 

Monticello Rotary President Lori Orestano-James who also served on the committee praised Diehl for her tireless commitment as chair along with active committee members Dr. Jeffery Weinstein, Dr. Peter Chester, Orshii Boldiis, Brad Rutledge "Food insecurity is real issue in our community with many of our neighbors in need of services like never before.  Events like this help to provide additional funds to keep needed agencies and organizations like The Federation for the Homeless to continue to do the great work they do in helping others."  She further states, "We run many events locally in which folks can help throughout the year from food drives, coat drives, toy drives, Comfort Closet drives as well as provide hands on assistance for those in need.  It is what makes 'The Magic of Rotary' and its motto, 'Service Above Self' the true driving forces in what the Monticello Rotary Club does."
