Judge Finn and the Dream Tank

The Monticello Rotary Club was delighted to hear from the Honorable Josephine Finn, Village Justice of Monticello, who spoke to us about her Dream Tank program. The DREAM TANK (Dream Realization through Enrichment, Actualization and Motivation) teaches a core group of high-risk adolescence how to take responsibility while learning and having fun at the same time. Youth that finish the program successfully become mentors to the next group.

The Dream Tank program gives our youth a strong foundation and a sense of direction. Judge Finn’s goal is to divert and reduce the number of youths and young adults who enter the juvenile or adult penal systems. History shows that once someone enters our criminal justice system there is little rehabilitation and they just become repeat offenders, ultimately costing taxpayers millions of dollars.

Judge Finn asked Rotary members to consider being mentors in a “Job Shadow”, where the youth would follow the Adult to see what working in the real world could possibly be about. If kids aren’t exposed to new ideas they have nothing to base their dreams upon.

The Rotary Club of Monticello thanks you, Judge Finn, for sharing the mission of Dream Tank with us. The program was enlightening.
