Becoming a Member
What is Rotary?
On a GLOBAL level:
We are 1.2 million neighbors, friends, and community leaders who come together to create positive, lasting change in our communities and around the world. We make a difference at home and around the world: Our members can be found in your community and across the globe.
We have identified specific causes to target to maximize our local and global impact. At the same time, we understand that each community has its own unique needs and concerns. Through our network of resources and partners, we help clubs focus their service efforts in promoting peace, fighting disease, providing clean water, saving mothers and children, supporting education, and growing local economies.
About the Monticello Rotary Club
The Monticello Rotary Club was started in 1924. We meet every Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at the River Edge Restaurant in Mongaup Valley. (*Occasionally we meet elsewhere.)
We are good people doing good things in our community!

Why Should You Join?
What is the Commitment?
- Time
- Meetings are held every Tuesday.
- Members are expected to attend at least HALF of the meetings.
- Members are expected to participate in SOME events.
- Members are expected to “get involved”.
What Does it Cost?
- Annual Dues are $205 (includes 5 tickets to the Annual Chicken Barbecue).
- Members are expected to contribute $100 annually to the Rotary Foundation.
- Members pay for their own dinner at meetings.
- Members pay to attend events.
- Members are expected to sell/purchase raffle/event tickets.
- 50/50 held at each meeting.
- Happy Dollars collected at each meeting.
How do I Join?
- Attend 3 meetings as our guest!
- Talk to Board and General Membership.
- Ask questions, get answers.
- Get to know members, let members get to know you.
- Does it feel “right” for you?
- Make the commitment!
